Dried Apricots
Prunus armeniaca
Dried apricots from Malatya. Bright orange sulphured type and dark natural type, with size grading from no. 1 to no. 6.
Türkiye is by a wide margin the world leader in dried apricot production and export; the centre of the trade is Malatya, and the Malatya apricot carries geographical indication protection. The fruit's dry matter and sugar balance are directly related to the region's altitude and its day-to-night temperature range.
The sulphured type is treated to preserve its bright orange colour and is preferred where appearance is prominent. The natural type is sun-dried without any treatment; it is dark brown, more intensely flavoured, and suitable for organic or additive-free declarations.
